Why It’s Great to Be Single on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

Attention all you single ladies out there: there’s no reason to be upset when February 14th rolls around!

1.     You Don’t Have to Worry About Buying a Present

Boys are impossible to shop for regardless…and Valentine’s Day is so soon after Christmas. If you had a boyfriend you probably would have just used up your perfect gift idea one short month ago and you would be back to the drawing board. Save your money and go Spring Break shopping!

2.     Valentine’s Day is on a Friday This Year

The mid-week Valentine’s Day can be a little depressing. This year, you’re in luck! How many people in happy relationships are going to be at Avenu tonight? Probably none… so no need to worry about flirting with someone who’s already taken. I promise you won’t be reminiscing about your ex-BF when DJ Papi is killing it from the DJ booth!

3.     Rally the Troops with Ease

Chances are no one is going to want to sit at home alone on 2/14. This means that all of your girlfriends will want to go out. If they protest, show them #2. They will change their mind. Going out is a good excuse to look good. Use the money you saved from not having to buy presents to splurge. Dry Bar, anyone?

4.     Do Whatever the Heck You want

What if you don’t want to go to out to dinner at 10:30 pm? …because that’s the only time Nick and Sam’s could fit you in. What if you would rather be celebrating Big Little with your new great-grand little? Enjoy your freedom today and listen to Single Ladies on repeat.

And if all else fails….
