Our writers spend their days writing about the many opportunities on campus, the nuances of college life and some of the coolest people to meet here at SMU. Today, our team is excited to let our readers get to know more about one of our own, HCSMU staff writer Kimi Rose.
HCSMU: What are you studying?
Kimi Rose: I’m majoring in journalism and minoring in fashion media, advertising and European studies.
HCSMU: What year are you?
KR: Junior
HCSMU: What do you do with Her Campus SMU?
KR: I am a staff writer.
HCSMU: What other organizations are you involved with (Greek life, volunteering, clubs, etc.)?
KR: I am an Alpha Chi Omega and also the founding president of SMU Dance Marathon.
HCSMU: What has been your favorite class at SMU? Why?
KR: My favorite class at SMU would have to be any of the Italian courses, especially Italian Culture. All of the professors for Italian are just amazing and I love learning more about Italy and its lifestyle, beauty – everything!
HCSMU: What does your dream future look like?
KR: Life truly is a mystery, but I would love to be working for a magazine in a cool city like NYC, Seattle, San Fransisco – something like that. If not that, I would love to be something simple like a barista in Europe (anything simple that allows me to be abroad), do something with philanthropy, or own a lot of dogs. No matter what, I hope to be surrounded by dogs! So there are a lot of possibilities!
HCSMU: What has been your favorite adventure to date?
KR: This past summer, I studied abroad with a program that started in Barcelona and ended in Rhodes, Greece. It kind of went all over the place, and I went knowing absolutely no one – so that was an adventure in itself! There are too many good memories to count over the many weeks abroad. We rode Vespas throughout Rome at night, we went paragliding in the Switz Alps, we got lost in Barcelona – wonderful things like that. I made the best of friends on that program and will never forget the crazy adventures in Europe with them.
HCSMU: What’s the biggest thing on your bucket list right now?
KR: Wow – good question. I have a lot of things on my bucket list, but I really want to go backpacking and adventuring all over the world, whether it’s by myself or with a friend. There’s so much to see, I just want to do it all! Right now I’m especially interested in the Scandinavian countries.
