With Thanksgiving approaching, it is now a fact that winter months are upon us. It’s time swap the sheer cardigans for your full length coats. But what you may not know is that the coming winter months also call for a switch in makeup. Not to fret! The guide to looking absolutely fabulous for fall is an easy one!
Moisturizer, moisturizer, moisturizer. Cannot say it enough! The cold air will dry out your skin, leaving your face feeling scaly rather than silky smooth. Put a thin layer of an oil free moisturizer under your foundation or concealer. Promise, it will make the world of difference.
The winter months gives your skin a break from the blistering heat of summer. While you may be cold, the sun is still out. And that means you still need to wear an SPF under your makeup. Many moisturizers and foundations already have a minimal amount of SPF in them, so your fix may just be finding one that that provides a little more coverage from the sun. This will ensure less fine lines as you get older, not to mention reduces your chance of skin cancer (both obvious plusses!!!).
One hot and sexy trend is the cat-eye inspired eyeliner. I’m not saying to to make your eyes look like Mufasa’s, but just to give it a little wing at the end. With this, it is best to only line your top lid. That way it makes your eyes look bigger and brighter!
Bright lips are another makeup trend that has been seen on the runways. While red is always a great go-to color when you want to spice it up for your night on the town, orange, pink and fuchsia are also flattering and wearable shades. If the big, bright lips are your choice, make sure to not play up any other facial feature. You want your lip to be the center of attention!
Lat but not lest, eyshadow. While usually the color a girl would choose to paint her lid, metallic grey and steel can be worn by just about anyone. Look for it in the color palettes or in the single eyeshadows. If bought in palette, try mixing and blending the colors to make a sexy smoky eye.
