This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Have you been invited to too many “Vote for Me” Facebook events?  Has your schedule been taken over by float building hours? Are you confused that everyone’s profile pictures are not of them anymore? It must be Homecoming week!

It’s a given that each of the candidates have a high GPA and involved in many SMU activities, so Her Campus SMU decided to ask each of the Queen Candidates other questions to let the SMU student body get a feel for their personalities!  Make sure to vote for your favorite by going to www.smu.edu/elections!

Amy Crowe, U11

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

Austin is a really loyal friend.  He is there for you in a jam and always willing to help out.

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

My freshman year I was homecoming chair for U11, and the float chair, Elizabeth Miller, and myself accidentally chicken wired ourselves inside the float and had to cut our way out.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

Parking enforcement, just kidding.  I will miss the home that it has become for me.  SMU will stay there, but I will go on to do other things.  Just like when I go back to Jenks, Oklahoma, things will feel different.

Angela Martinez, CHAS

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

My favorite quality about Fred is definitely his personality, because he is probably the easiest person to get along with and the hardest person to not like. Not only is he funny, but he’s also a leader on campus and a force to be reckoned with…watch out guys!

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

The last four years with CHAS (College Hispanic American Students) have been full of amazing and fun memories that I’ll cherish for life. But, the funniest memory I have is our bi-annual trip to Austin, Texas. The road trip first began with my Chik-fil-A tea being forgotten on the roof of the car, then splattered all over the windshield. The, after getting to Austin and touring the University of Texas campus and the State Capitol, we found out that our meeting with the State Representative had actually been “unscheduled” due to scheduling conflicts. It turned out that our trip to Austin was a complete fail, but the BEST trip ever! We ended up eating at an amazing BBQ restaurant and having the best time away from Dallas after all. Some of the best times are just unplanned.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

As graduation day gets closer, I can’t help but be saddened by the fact that I’ll be leaving SMU and my friends behind. Although SMU offers so much, the thing I’ll miss most is SAMSA. Although our campus lacks a bit in diversity, I was able to find a “home” at the SAMSA and my “familia” and friends group grew every day. Hughes-Trigg Student Center houses the SAMSA and is probably the best place to hang out on-campus. That building and that office hold some of my most cherished memories at SMU and it will definitely be the most missed memory after I graduate.

Ariana Garza, Gamma Phi Beta

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

My favorite quality about Rennick Palley is that he’s sophisticated and well-mannered.

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

My favorite memory with my organization is when me, my little and another sister were late to our sisterhood retreat at the Dallas Museum of Natural History and we accidentally ended up in the wrong building and wandered the exhibits for over an hour, looking for our sisters or even any museum staff. We finally found the rest of our sisters on the other side of the complex and they had been looking for us the whole time.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

What I will miss most about SMU after graduation is my sorority. I have lived in the house for the past two years and the girls provide such an amazing support system and will be my sisters for life.

Elizabeth Bandera, Delta Gamma

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

I’ve known Jack since the very first day of our freshman year – he lived right across the hall from me! He’s always been a very warm, welcoming and hardworking individual who practically bleeds SMU spirit, making him an absolutely wonderful candidate to be paired with! Being able to add this entire chaotic, amazing homecoming experience to our several years of memories is truly a blessing.

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

One of my silly memories from DG happened on bid day this past year – as all of us Delta Gammas were getting ready for the new girls to run to our house, we had a DJ playing loud music and several girls, including myself, somehow managed to make it up to the top of the pillars in front of the DG house. Once we successfully made it onto the pillars, we danced around and just had a great time. It was so much fun (and just a wee bit scary considering how uncoordinated I am) to dance around way up high in a crazy DG-themed outfit and welcome the new pledge class with open arms!

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

It is an absolutely lovely school with a gorgeous campus, but I’m definitely going to miss the people the most. It is unlike any community I’ve ever been a part of – from my Mustang Band family, to my Delta Gamma sisters and from my fellow tour guides and mock trial teammates to all of my advisors and professors, I will truly miss the support, guidance and love that makes up this extraordinary community here at SMU.

Grace Roberts, Kappa Kappa Gamma

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

My favorite quality about Billy, SAE’s candidate, is that he is #36 on the SMU football team. Go Mustangs!

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

For the past 2 years, KKG has hosted a philanthropy event called Kickin’ it with Kappa.  The event entails girls from my chapter dressing up in their best 80s attire (leggings, leotards, legwarmers–the whole Richard Simmons-inspired ensemble) and teaching a series of “work-out” classes.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I will miss walking around SMU’s beautiful campus and seeing all the familiar faces everyday.

Jacqueline Rivas, Pi Beta Phi

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

I adore Stephen’s southern charm, and his loving personality.

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

One of the funniest memories I have of Pi Phi is from my junior year when our senior pledge class played a prank on the whole house after a long day of recruitment. Once the doors shut after the last party, they told us they had some serious issues they needed to talk to us about. Immediately all of our stomachs dropped and we had no idea what we had done wrong. The seniors started yelling at us, but much to our surprise, the yelling eventually turned into a special singing and choreographed dancing rendition to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “I Like Big Butts”. It was hilarious and it eventually turned into a whole house dance party.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

After graduation I am going to miss living in the Pi Phi house with all of my best friends.

Jordan Kragen, Kappa Alpha Theta

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

Mike is extremely hard working.

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

Theta surprising everyone with a bounce house during work week on my 21st birthday! A different 21st than I had imagined but so much fun!

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I will definitely miss my sorority and all of my best friends. But, I will also miss going to Banditos, like, three times a week.

Katie Perkins, Eta Iota Sigma

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

His thoughtfulness

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

My funniest memory would have to be when as new member educator I dressed up in fireman themed pajamas for the new member retreat. We had a fashion show and everyone laughed so hard when I came into the room.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I hope to stay connected to SMU by attending alumni events and football games but I will definitely miss all of my wonderful friends and walking through such a beautiful campus every day.

Laura Schur, Chi Omega

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

Ricky is one the most genuine people I have ever met. He loves to be around people, and is always making everyone laugh. He is confident, enthusiastic, and one-of-a-kind. I couldn’t have asked for a more gregarious, loving, or fun individual to be paired with!

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

Although I can’t pinpoint just one hilarious memory of Chi Omega, I can tell you that I remember clenching my stomach from laughing so hard on the floor of the house. If I had to narrow it down, some of the funniest things that have happened were during Rush Week, and even though I’ve seen our skit a million times, I still crack up everytime.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I’m definitely going to miss seeing my friends every day! I’m also going to miss watching Brown Bag- but luckily I can come back to watch the shows!

Marlee Klein, Alpha Chi Omega

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

Seth is so much fun to be around! Whether he’s hanging out or going out, you know you’ll have fun with Seth and the rest of the Betas!

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

Last year AXO and Beta performed together in Sing Song and one of the Betas did a cameo of President Turner during “The Time Warp” song – it was awesome!  I can’t hear that song anymore without thinking of Sing Song!

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I’ll miss being so close to all of my friends.  I lived in the dorms and now the sorority house, so I’m really used to always being around people.  It will definitely be a change to live by myself!

Megan Welch, Tri Delta

  • What is your favorite quality about the king candidate you are paired with?

Andy has been so relaxed and carefree in any situation we’ve experienced together so far. I’m glad he’s someone that I can just goof off with during this crazy week!

  • What is your funniest memory of the organization you are representing?

My funniest memories from Tri Delta have come from living in the Tri Delta house over the past year; playing dress up in everyone’s closets, late night frozen yogurt runs, and hearing about the daily goings-on’s in the TV room are what make this house an incredible place to live.

  • What will you miss most about SMU after graduation?

I’m going to miss the incredible opportunities this school has offered me over the past three (and a half) years. When else will you get to travel to foreign countries to study, be able to live in a sorority house with 31 of your closest friends, and have direct contact with some of the smartest men and women in their fields (yes, the professors)? Probably never. I’m doing my best to live it up while I still can!
