One of the unique experiences that students at SMU get to experience is the Boulevard. The Boulevard is not just a swanky, Dallas version of a tailgate; it is the red carpet at SMU. Boulevarding is the chance to see and be seen by everyone. The error that most people make when they get dressed for the boulevard is that they don’t think outside the box. It is not simply putting on a sundress and a pair of cowboy boots. The Boulevard is the place for your personal style to shine through.

If the SMU v. Baylor game this Friday night is your first time on the Boulevard, or if you’re just looking for new inspiration, here are a few fun ideas to try.

If you’re a Lilly lover, which many Southern girls are, there are lots of fun ways to combine your favorite white Lilly Pulitzer dress with shoes and accessories. Pairing a pair of red or blue Kendra Scott earrings with your dress adds the perfect touch of Southern flair to complete the look. Wearing wedges or fun flats instead of cowboy boots keeps the look consistent and simply southern.

If you like to push the envelope and be edgy there are lots of ways to incorporate that on the Boulevard. Wearing maxi dresses, fringe or hats adds uniqueness to your outfit. Free People or Urban Outfitters are two great places to go to find unique pieces to wear on the Boulevard.

For the girls who are into looks that are simple and chic there are alternatives to the typical dress. Pants, rompers and shorts are just a few of the options to try. Some of the cutest and most fashionable outfits are the ones where people think outside the box. Try pairing white shorts or pants with a blue or red top. When it gets cooler out wear a pair of red pants with your fur vest. Adding a Louis Vuitton cross body bag ties the entire look together.
