ACL Spotlight: St. Vincent

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

St. Vincent, born Annie Erin Clark, is a musician who will be performing during the first weekend of Austin City Limits! With six albums out, St. Vincent is no stranger to the musical world. Perhaps most known for her songs “Roslyn”, which was featured on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack and was performed with Bon Iver, and “Slow Disco”, her music can be categorized in many ways, from soft rock to lounge pop. This multitude of genres has made her extremely well suited to the music world, as she keeps people guessing what she’ll do next.

“Slip my hand from your hand/Leave you dancing’ with a ghost”

From St. Vincent’s “Slow Disco”

St. Vincent has won many awards, including a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for her self-titled album St. Vincent and a 2019 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for the song “Masseducation”. Her most recent album, Daddy’s Home, was released in 2021 to critical acclaim. The album was produced alongside Jack Antonoff, who has famously worked with artists such as Taylor Swift, Lorde, and more.

“Don’t let it fool you/Don’t let it fool you/Down/Dancing around folds in her gown”

From Bon Iver and St. Vincent’s “Roslyn”

St. Vincent seems like a natural inclusion for the Austin City Limits Festival, what with her vast experience in the music world and her popularity with fans and critics alike. Don’t forget to check her out Weekend 1 this year at ACL!
