The night in which the grim grinning ghosts come out to play just so happens to also be a school night this year. A Monday Halloween could put a damper on the holiday’s usual festivities but it doesn’t have to. For all of you glass half full girls out there, this just means you get the entire weekend leading up to October 31 to celebrate! Here are some things to do in and around Dallas to ensure your “Hallo-weekend” is one for the books.
1. Haunted Houses
There are about a billion haunted house options available to you this Halloween weekend. Cutting Edge, Slaughter House, and even a Zombie Safari where hayrides and paintball gets a whole new meaning.
Six Flags Over Texas will have a guaranteed thrilling Halloween weekend. If the 255-foot drop on the Titan isn’t scary enough, zombies have infested the theme park in certain scare zones. Haunted mazes have been set up to terrorize you even further.
3. Monster 5k
For all of you who would rather have a fit Halloween rather than binge on candy for weeks like I’ve been doing, Shannon Brewing Co. is hosting a Monster 5k on October 29 in Keller, Texas. Participants will be given a super fun t-shirt but are asked to wear their Halloween costumes. I’m picturing a bunch of jogging Harley Quinn’s and laughing while I reach for my tenth pumpkin shaped Reese’s.
4. K104’s Dede’s Ultimate Halloween Party
If you listen to 104.5 on the radio you’ve heard “Dede In the Morning.” Well Dede is coming out on October 29 to host a Halloween party at Park Avenue. You must be 21 or older to attend this but there is a costume contest and a giveaway. Let’s hope its free concert tickets.
5. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
If you’re looking for more of a wild Halloween adventure without the fear factor, The Inwood Theater is showing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” October 29-31. An interactive movie experience with our favorite “transsexual from Transylvania?” Sign me up for all three nights!
If you’ve already done everything on this list and you’re a little exhausted, it’s time to pull out your fav Halloween movies. “Halloweentown,” “Hocus Pocus,” “Halloweentown II,” “The Haunted Mansion,” “Halloweentown High,” “and Return to Halloweentown”…just to name a few.
It’s Monday night. Regardless of if it’s October 31 or not you still have to get up for that 8 a.m. test Tuesday morning. You can grab your festive pumpkin spice latte and hit the books without feeling guilty because you had a jam-packed Halloween weekend.
