3 Apps to Help Ease Your End of Year Anxieties and Help Start Your New Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

The end of the year is always the same, holiday parties, gift shopping, worrying about not putting on those extra pounds and how can anyone forget…finals. With everything going on, check out these apps to help you clear your mind, reset and get back on track.

1. Happify

This app proves that technology can help make people’s lives better and easier, unlike other apps like Instagram or Facebook that can cause distractions and even anxiety. Happify helps you strengthen five skills that will allow you to overcome your everyday stresses and be happier which include learning how to savor the moment, thanking those who matter, aspiring to meaningful goals, giving to yourself and empathizing with others. Eighty-six percent of the app’s regular users saw happiness improvements in two months and was easily achieved by logging in just three to four times a week. I’m pretty sure you check Snapchat more than that in one day! So give it a try.

To more prove that Happify is the best gift to yourself this holiday season, check out these Huffington Post articles inspired by Happify.

2. Headspace

Is your brain about to go into overload keeping track of your GPA, your job and everything Christmas? Well clear up some space with Headspace, a meditation app designed to help you focus more, stress less, smile more, sleep better, train better and even eat better. Did I mention each session is just ten minutes? Log in on the way to class or take a study break and let Headspace distress your mind and help you regroup.

3. Breathing Zone

This app is actually doctor recommended and completely focuses on reducing your stress and anxiety levels by controlling your breathing. Often times we forget that breathing is not only the most important but also the easiest to control.

So get rid of distractions and try replacing Twitter or Snapchat this holiday season with apps that will help you distress and get through the holiday season with a smile. Go into the new year with the right tools and the right attitude.
