If you haven’t watched “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” yet, this show is 100% worth checking out for both some valuable life lessons and some serious laughs. Miriam, our leading lady, spent her whole life working towards perfection; having perfectly styled hair, the perfect body measurements, the perfect skin complexion and being the perfect wife. In one fell swoop, everything that she worked so hard for comes crumbling down due to a man. Miriam, or Midge, for short, was an educated and talented woman who gave way too much of herself to an undeserving man who was stunting her from living up to her fullest potential. While The “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is a hilarious feel-good show, it is also littered with important life lessons for everyone. Lessons about self-worth and self-love, lessons about being open to new experiences and even some silly lessons teaching us to remember that life doesn’t always have to be that serious.

  1. Being perfect is exhausting.
  2. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, things just aren’t going to go your way
  3. Don’t base your life and your happiness around another person, that’s too much pressure on them. In the end, only you can determine exactly what makes you happy.
  4. It’s okay to laugh at yourself sometimes – it’s actually fun to laugh at yourself sometimes!
  5. Going to a comedy show actually seems like a wonderful time, and we could all benefit from witty, and sometimes raunchy, humor in our lives every so often.
  6. Be loud, be outspoken, and don’t hide the sides of yourself that you love the most just to spare the feelings of someone else.
  7. People are drawn to others who are committed to being their true genuine self. Seeing someone who is seeking personal happiness and growth radiates and draws others in.
  8. Life has a way of bringing people into your life unexpectedly, and even if they may seem completely different from you, those are often the best friendships.
  9. Society needs to actively be supporting women, building up their confidence and doing all we can to break gender roles
  10. We all need to be grateful to our mothers and grandmothers who grew up during this time and had to deal with enforced gender stereotypes. Also for having to deal with us while we were growing up, because honestly, being a woman, or more, a mother, is a lot of work.
