Top 3 Underrated and Affordable Travel Destinations (for after Covid)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

Despite the difficult time period that we are currently facing, it is still nice to reflect on the enriching experiences that travel provides. Travel is so unique because it provides you with the experience of being immersed in a completely different culture. I feel as if one of the best ways to learn about yourself is to travel. Below is a list of 3 places that I have traveled to and why I thought they were significant.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is one of the most technologically advanced cities that still has the historic richness of South Korea. The city is teeming with museums, cultural festivals, and flavorful foods. In addition, Seoul is a fashion-oriented city that boasts an array of high end shops. There are several indoor amusement parks, a towering sky tree, and trips are offered to nearby islands.

Osaka, Japan

When many people are planning a vacation to Japan, their immediate instinct is to book their trip solely in Tokyo. However, I was fortunate enough to have the experience to travel to Osaka, and I was completely enthralled with the historic castles and shopping districts there. Osaka is also home to a Universal Studios and is famous for their delicious Takoyaki.

Canggu, Bali, Indonesia

Canggu, Bali is one of the most unique places I’ve ever been. The area is less populated than larger cities like Kuta and Seminyak, but it offers delicious, cheap meals and pristine beaches for surfing. Also, the local villages are architecturally beautiful and there are hundreds of shops and restaurants to browse. Trips to nearby islands and temples are offered at reasonable prices.

My name is Adrianna Gomez and I am a junior at Saint Michael’s College and a part of the women’s soccer team. I am from Okinawa, Japan and I have traveled and lived in various locations because of my dad’s job as an officer in the Marine Corps. This is my first year as a member of HerCampus SMCVT and I am so excited!
