Finals season is coming up, and it can be overwhelming and stressful to say the least. And everyone needs to have an outlet where they can relax and take some time for themselves. Some people workout, some journal, and some, like myself, watch Netflix.

Watching a show or movie is the perfect escape from reality, and it lets you disassociate from your life and watch someone else’s. Whether you’re watching to relax, or bored as hell in quarantine, you cannot go wrong with a Netflix Original.

Throughout my rigorous Netflix binge sessions, I have compiled a list of the top Netflix Originals that I would highly recommend to a friend.

  1. The Queen’s Gambit

A limited series about a young girl growing up in an orphanage, who becomes a master of chess. Throughout her life you get to watch Beth excel in matches as well as deal with addiction. Could not recommend this series more, it will have your eyes glued to the screen. I literally watched the whole thing in 24 hours.

  1. American Murder: The Family Next Door

This documentary follows Chris Watts after the murder of his wife and two daughters. This thriller will have you guessing who could have committed this crime. Be ready for a crazy ending.

  1. Deaf U

A short reality series that takes place at Gallaudet University, a private school for the deaf and hard of hearing. You follow a handful of students and get to see their daily life and relationships. A surprisingly relatable and unique series that all college students should watch.

  1. To the Bone

A movie that follows a 20-year-old who struggles with anorexia nervosa. Ellen moves into a group home that is run by a doctor with unusual practice. Lily Collins is amazing at portraying this role.

  1. Someone Great

Best breakup movie ever. This movie will make you feel empowered and really just for the girls. After a breakup, Jenny leans on his girlfriends to make the most of her last few days in New York. Great soundtrack too by the way.

  1. Long Shot

A crime documentary where an innocent man gets framed for a murder. You get to follow along with his attorney who will not stop until he is proven innocent. This film will have you begging for evidence, and all I can say is, thank you Larry David.

  1. If Anything Happens I Love You

A short film, all of 12 minutes long that will have you sobbing. A peek into the life of a struggling couple who mourns the loss of their child. This pretty much silent film speaks volumes.
