How To Throw An Instagram Worthy Birthday Bash

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

Decorations:

When you first begin planning decorations, you should start by keeping a color scheme in mind. A color scheme is just a few carefully chosen colors that will be featured across the party. Keep it simple and clean. For example:

This coral, yellow, and gold theme give the party a warm and girly feel.

Balloons, balloons, BALLOONS! Your number one decoration needs to be balloons. Trend Alert: Number balloons are perfect for your birthday this year. Not only are they adorable, but they’ll remind your older relatives that in fact it’s your nineteenth birthday rather than your thirteenth.

Pair these other balloons that follow your color scheme and you have created the perfect party atmosphere.

Look to invest in some garland and ribbons to decorate the walls of your venue. If you want a more girly theme, look for some flowery garland. If you want a more modern feel, buy some metallic streamers.

To complete your decorations, make a photo booth for your guests.

Get a large piece of poster board and cut out a square. Think of it like a polaroid picture and right a short, sweet note at the bottom like the example above.

For your photo booth, get a tapestry, condensed streamers, or any fun piece of fabric. For your guests, you can use some costume pieces and a couple chalkboards to add in the pictures.

The Outfit:

This is the best part! It’s your birthday, so wear whatever the hell you want. As long as you are comfortable and have room to dance wear it. This is the perfect time to be daring and step out of your comfort zone.

Last Touches:

Specialty drinks (whether alcoholic or virgin) are a unique touch to a fun day. Specialty drinks can range from something as simple as strawberry lemonade to five star cocktails. They are as simple as adding a strawberry or cotton candy on top of the glass. Don’t overthink them just make them pretty and sweet and your guests will be raving about them for weeks. Before the party starts definitely have at least an hour long playlist arranged that you can leave on repeat. It will not only save you time from running back and forth to the aux to switch songs, but also will help the party progress.
