Zack Maroon is one of the friendliest, funniest kids on Saint Mike’s campus. His positive attitude, bright smile, and *fire* dance moves are a real crowd pleaser. Zack’s involvement on campus is part of what makes it such a great place to be, and we were lucky to sit down and get to know him a little better.

HC: What is you favorite part of SMC?
ZM: My favorite part of SMC is without a doubt the campus environment. Both students and faculty here are like very few people you’ll ever met. It’s been just over a couple years and I already know so many of the relationships I’ve made here will last my entire life.
HC: What are you involved in on campus?
ZM: I’m the secretary of finance for the Student Association, so I work with all of the 45 clubs to help them make purchases and manage their budget. At the end of the year I get to help allocate the following year’s budget. I also am the co-president of the Business Society (with Alex Colletta) and the Residence Hall Association (with Katie Barry). I have a job on campus working with the special events department as a supervisor which is really cool because I get to work with so many great people from the grounds crew, IT department, and special events. I’m also an orientation leader which has been one of my favorite experiences at college.
HC: What do you wish you were involved in on campus?
ZM: I think it would be really cool to run for president or vice-president of the Student Association. I also have always wanted to write an article for the defender.
HC: What’s your favorite thing to do in Burlington?
ZM: I’m probably the least cultured person in Vermont, so I’ve loved getting some Burlington tours from my girlfriend Emma Testone this year.
HC: You have 3 semesters left at SMC. How do you plan to spend the rest of your career here?
ZM: That’s crazy to think about! These have been the best years of my life, so I just want to stay involved and meet more people
HC: Favorite spot on campus?
ZM: I’m sure you get this answer a lot, but definitely townhouse 408.
HC: Advice for freshmen?
ZM: Step out of your comfort zone whenever you get the chance. If you even have a slight desire to try something new you should go for it.
