I would like to consider myself a breakfast connoisseur, an expert of omelets, bagel-n-schmear master, an arbiter of home fries. I could go on and on as I LOVE BREAKFAST! As much as I enjoy Harvey’s omelet station in Alliot, I will never turn down an offer to go out for breakfast. After searching high and low throughout the greater Burlington and Colchester area and through intensive research I have discovered my top breakfast go-tos.

Athens Diner

46 Highpoint Center

Colchester, VT

This was my first breakfast go to. It has that authentic diner atmosphere and all your breakfast fan favorites. My order usually consists of a cup of coffee and one of their skillets. A skillet consists of a base layer of home fries followed by your pick of meat, veggies, and cheese and all topped with an egg cooked to your preference. It’s the perfect cure to the Sunday scaries

Sneakers Bistro

28 Main St

Winooski, VT

This one came with high recommendations from a family friend who attended St. Mikes. This is my favorite place to take my mom when she is visiting. The wait can be a turn off but their menu is full of flavor and style like no other. It is a great place for people with dietary restrictions. I’m a big fan of their quinoa waffles.

Myer’s Bagels

377 Pine St

Burlington, VT

I lucked upon this place last winter when I went in search of gluten free bagels. At first look this place seems like a hole in the wall but it is a hidden gem of Burlington. These Montreal styled bagels are handmade each day, honey broiled and then fired to perfection in a brick oven. They have all your favorite bagel flavors as well as their popular house flavors such as Montreal spice and rosemary sea salt. Pair your favorite bagel with one of their many schmears, create your own breakfast sandwich, or choose from one of the specials. My favorite is the Ivan on a Montreal spice which is a fried egg topped with Brie, avocado, and Siracha.

Penny Cluse

169 Cherry Street

Burlington, VT

This is a recent find. It has such a cozy, homey feel and a menu packed full of mouth watering options to kick start your day. They have my favorite coffee and home fries as well as the freshest fruit bowls. My friends really loved the biscuits and gravy and chocolate chip pancakes. Be sure to get there early or try to hit it up on a weekday so you don’t get stuck waiting an hour and forty minutes for seat.
