Why Showering At College Is the Worst

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Skidmore chapter.

When at home, I look forward to showering. Showering is a time to be alone, to sing, to think, and only partly to stay clean.

At home I blast the radio and bump in the shower for about 30 minutes and then spend 10 minutes washing my hair and body. The showering process doesn’t stop there. I take about an hour to dry off and play on my phone and sit in my room naked.

When at school, I hate showering. Showering is a time set aside solely to cleanse my body in the most efficient amount of time possible. At school, I silently wash myself in under 10 minutes. The worst is when you get ready for the shower and someone snags it before you and you’re forced wait naked and cold, or maybe it’s the shoes, oh no, it’s for sure having to carry all my shampoo and soaps and toiletries to the bathroom. Unlike at home, I must put my clothes on in a rush because my room is not just my room and sitting naked isn’t exactly appropriate.
