Our Favorite Halloween DCOMs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Skidmore chapter.

Halloween is everyone’s favorite time of year–don’t lie. The chill in the air and unlimited candy makes the frightful season all the more fun. Not to mention all the great movies that equally scare and delight. Here’s a list of our favorite throwback Halloween movies (mostly DCOMs, let’s be real) to get you in the spirit.

The DCOM classics:

Hocus Pocus (1993): The Sanderson sisters and the retro 90s fashion will simultaneously make you laugh and scream. Rejoice!

Halloweentown Saga (starting 1998): We all wanted to be Marnie. Enough said.

The Little Vampire (2000): Jonathan Lipnicki = cutest kid ever.

Other DCOMs we love:

Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire (2000)

Don’t Look Under the Bed (1999): This one was actually pretty scary.

Casper Movies (starting 1995)

Phantom of the Megaplex (2000): Underrated.

Some non-DCOM classics:

Tim Burton movies (starting 1993): Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Coraline, Frankenweenie; to name a few.

Ghost Busters (1984/2016): Either the original or the remake.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

Beetle Juice (1988): Another Tim Burton movie, but deserving of its own listing.

The Addams Family (1991): Wednesday Addams is all of us.

And here are some truly scary movies for you adrenaline-junkies:

The Halloween Series (starting 1972)

Donnie Darko (2001)

The Night of Demons (1988)

Scream (1996)

The Conjuring (2013)
