With Halloween just around the corner, people will soon be scrambling to get and put together their costumes in time at any store that’s still open. If you are still in the market for a costume and would like to avoid the hassle, better to start putting together a costume of your choice now while there is still plenty of time at your disposal.

But where should you buy these costumes, and what should they be?

There is a costume for each person, some of us who prefer to get the pre-put together costumes, and others who always add their own creative touch. For those of you who would like to submit your order and be done with it, I would recommend looking at costume sets at Party City, Target, or Spirit Halloween. If you are looking for more feminine outfits for your Halloween adventures, check out the Dolls Kill, newly stocked with classic and sassy costumes from Harley Quinn to UPS worker. Alternatively, try Kitteny’s new Halloween section for cute and quality costume sets. However, if you are looking to make your own unique costumes before it is too late, you have come to the right place. I did some research for whimsical Halloween costumes that you still have time to put together yourself.

Kiki’s delivery service

This is a great costume when you want to be classic witch, but also have a unique spin to your look. You can start by buying a dark blue or black dress with long sleeves. Then you have to get the classic red bow to wrap around you head, and matching red slippers. You could stop there, but if you are up to carrying something with you, carry around a broom or even your new side kick Jiji.

Madeline In Paris

Many of us loved being taken on Madeline’s adventures when we were younger, and what better time to revisit them then this Halloween. Here is what you need to go as this classic character: a blue dress or light trench coat, and a white collared undershirt you can fold outside your dress or coat. If this method does not work, you can get creative and sew the white collar to your dress/ coat. Then, you can grab some mary janes and white socks and your all set.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This is another childhood favorite of many, and it would add whimsy as well as nostalgia to your Halloween. While it is a caterpillar, it could still be recognisable to many if your costume is done just right. I would recommend investing in some very long green striped socks or leggings. On top of this, you can choose to layer a green dress, skirt, or shorts. Then, for the top, you could choose a green top or sweater if not already wearing a dress. As many things that can be striped green, the better! With this outfit, the accessories are going to be crucial. Find a red beanie that you can decorate with the caterpillar’s eyes, nose, and antennae. for the shoes, I would go with any sort of red shoes or brown boots.

A Bad Case of Stripes

We all felt for this girl back in the day, but at least now she’s giving us great Halloween inspiration. For this costume, you’re going to want to pull out all of your boldest shades of face paint. Other than the hard work of covering your face and neck in rainbow stripes, you’ll want a white tank top and shorts or dress, as well as a pink bow for your hair. If you want to take it a step further, find a striped rainbow sweater. As for shoes, white, or any bold color that goes with one you are already wearing,… or painted as, would be best.
