Big things are happening at one of every Skidmore girls’ favorite downtown boutiques!
Lucia, a chic, bohemian, NYC street wear inspired boutique, is moving to the storefront window display at the Saratoga Marketplace. The boutique will have ample more space to peruse the merchandise, but Lucy, the owner, promises to keep the cozy environment that we all love about the current space. “I want to keep the same vintage vibe. The space won’t be sparse, just easier to shop in,” she told us.
Lucia will still carry those affordable designer brands such as MinkPink, LAmade, and Blank NYC denim, but will also be introducing some new brands as a result of the extra square footage! Get excited for brands like Cheap Monday, Dolce Vita shoes, Brandy Melville and For Love & Lemons. Lucy told us, “I try not to sell lines that are everywhere. I like to sell more up-and-coming designers.” Avoid an Urban Outfitters obsessed closet by staying trendy and unique with pieces from Lucia!
Reasons we love Lucia so much here at HC? Affordable designer wear that every Skiddie collegiette™ would gawk over is available right on Broadway. The jacket, lace top, blouse and vest pictured all range between $39 and $49! Not to mention rings priced at an average $9, necklaces at $18 and sunglasses at just $12. Denim is just an easy $75 for comfortable, adorable designer skinny jeans. Compare that to a department store!
“People walking by seem to assume it’s so expensive and are surprised when they come in that it’s really not!” Lucy said. Don’t miss out on getting that expensive look for a fraction of the cost. And in case you missed our interview with Lucy Moran, formerly Straus (recently married!), check out our article about her vintage collection at Lucia! Get that straight-from-NYC look without shelling out for bus tickets.
What’s Lucy most excited about in her new location? In renovating the space that was once the Turkish Bazaar (now relocated), the team discovered a gorgeous brick wall that’s at least 80 years old. Lucy is also creating a focal point with antique Indian doorframes and mirrors.
For this and other sneak peaks of the renovation progress, make sure to “Like” Lucia on Facebook and follow the boutique on Twitter!
The tentative grand opening for the new space is November 4, so keep your eyes out for more info of a grand opening party complete with hors d’oeuvres catered by her husband’s comfort food restaurant, Comfort Kitchen (opening in Spring; to be located on the bottom floor of Saratoga Marketplace), and of course new merchandise. Rumor says to expect more wedge oxford booties, rompers and bodycon dresses! We’ll see you there, collegiettes™. Till then, happy shopping!
