Although Skidmore is often thought of as a haven for hipsters, there are definitely some hidden prepsters amongst us! Ella Kaplan ’16 (pictured above) looks playful and confident in her fun, bright pants and understated sweater combo. The elephant earrings are so cute it hurts. We asked Ella to share her style secrets–check out what she had to say!
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is classic with a prep/hipster twist. I change my style a lot depending on what I feel like wearing on a particular day.
What is one fashion item you can’t live without?
I couldn’t choose one, so I will give you two! A good pair of leggings and my Sugar lip treatment by Fresh. I love how moisturizing it is and it smells great too!
Who is your favorite celebrity fashionista?
Blake Lively is literally flawless. Also, anything that Elie Saab creates is pure gold.
How does your everyday ensemble differ from your weekend look?
I tend to take risks and wear more color for my everyday look. The weekend is all about the non-sloppy comfort with a little more edge and playfulness.
What are some of your favorite/least favorite trends right now?
Recently I’ve been really into shirts or dresses that have razorbacks. I also love a good beanie. I’m kind of over the ombré hair trend unless it is subtle and done well; most of the time it just looks like the person hasn’t had a root touchup in a very long time.
