Bottoms Up: Favorite Fall Drinks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Skidmore chapter.

The leaves are falling and so is the temperature—drastically. Our favorite way to fight the fall frost is by cozying up next to the fire with a warm and toasty drink (or at least one that makes you feel warm and toasty). Check out these recipes for some of our fall favorites!

Alcoholic

Golden Apple Cider
Your apple cider will not only warm you up, but also sparkle. What’s not to love? Variations include the Cinnamon Caramel Apple and the Cinnamon Stick.

The Godfather
Be a class act. Equal parts tough and tender, this mixture of Scotch and Amaretto will allow you to discuss philosophy from the depths of an armchair without making you feel like too much of a poser. Try the Godmother if you prefer body con and perfume to tweed vests and cigar smoke.

Pumpkin Martini

Halloween doesn’t have to end at Moorebid Ball! You can make up for missing out on pumpkin carving (you swore to yourself you’d do it this year, but…) by sipping on this Sex and the City-worthy fall drink.

Ginger Snap
While most people wait until December to break out the eggnog, we simply can’t resist this fall favorite (and you shouldn’t either!). The Ginger Snap spices things up—literally—and will help you brave the early blizzards (who ever heard of a White Halloween anyway?).

For you collegiettes who are over 21, garnish these goodies with CREAM (15% alcohol-infused whipped cream in flavors like vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and raspberry) or add a dash of Pinnacle vodka (try whipped, butterscotch, cake, or vanilla) if you’re looking for that extra kick!

Non-Alcoholic
Eggnog Latte
A family-friendly alternative to the Ginger Snap, this creamy slice of heaven will have you smacking your lips after every sip. Treat yourself! It can’t hurt to switch it up after picking up Burgess coffees every morning for the past two years, now can it?

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
When you’ve just braved the cold for a long day full of classes, nothing beats coming home to a warm cup of cocoa—except for peanut butter cocoa! You can toss the ingredients in a slow cooker at the start of your day, and when you’ve finally survived your last lecture, you can pull out your mug and unwind.

Cider Snap
Love cinnamon candies? So do we! We like to indulge our sweet tooth with this toasty drink, especially right after Halloween—all of the candy goes on sale at the start of November. We also love that we get our fruit fix from the apple slices. You know what they say about an apple a day!

Whether they’re alcoholic or not, autumn-inspired drinks can warm you up from head to toe. We kick ourselves at the end of every fall for not having taken full advantage of the cider opportunities—don’t let this happen to you! Cozy up with a frothy treat and enjoy the fall while it’s still here.
