What to Look Forward to In Philly This Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

The weather is finally warming up, which means it’s time to break out those jean jackets and that cute pair of sandals you bought at the end of last season and hit the city! Check out a list below of fun things to do in Philly this spring with you and your friends!

Phillies games (starting March 28th)

Baseball is back and your Philadelphia Phillies are looking powerful this baseball season. Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, and the rest of the batting lineup are bringing their hitting power to the plate this 2019 season. It’s a great place to tailgate with all of your friends and hit Xfinity Live after! Starting prices for tickets are also $15!

Morgan’s Pier, Spruce Street Harbor Park, & the Outdoor Beer Gardens of Philly

Open during the spring summer, and fall, Philly has several options for trying out IPAs and craft beers outside! Morgan’s Pier and Spruce Street Harbor Park along the Delaware River are two great spots to eat and drink with friends and are free to enter! Other Beer Gardens in Philly include Frankford Hall in Fishtown, Independence Beer Garden located near the Liberty Bell, and the Uptown Beer Garden in Center City.

Philadelphia Zoo

The first zoo in America is open now for the 2019 season! Exhibits include lions, flamingos, rhinos, bears, gorillas, tigers, and so many more! Located right off of 76, its a great place to spend the day with friends! Daily general admission tickets start at $23!

Concerts

Warmer weather means concert season, and there are some great acts coming to Philadelphia! The Wells Fargo Center is hosting names such as Cher, Justin TImberlake, and Ariana Grande this spring. BB&T Pavillion (located in Camden across the Delaware River) is hosting Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Hozier, and many more all season long! Not to mention, it also has a great view of the Philadelphia skyline! Also, the Mann Center (5 minutes from campus!) is hosting Juice WRLD, Old Dominion, and Maggie Rogers this season. Lawn seats for these events vary, but typically start between $20-$30!

Manayunk StrEAT Festival

A little more locally located, Manayunk takes a Sunday every year to have blocks and blocks of food trucks line up for people to try local food and drink. Food trucks, gourmet dining, and sit down restaurants are all open and offered for people to come and enjoy with friends. This event also hosts two stages with live music all day and a great opportunity to check out the shopping scene!
