1st Floor PLC – Let’s be real, you didn’t come here to study. Maybe you brought a notebook or two but you’re not opening them. If you do, you’re putting it in front of you just for show. We all know why you really you came into this space: to gossip to your friends and show everyone how cute your outfit is. Let me be clear: this place is wild. There are no rules. I know someone that went on a first date on the first floor PLC, do you understand where I’m going with this? Okay okay, I will admit though, there is one exception: you could be working on a group project.
1st Floor PLC Computers – You didn’t bring your laptop to campus and are supplementing some work in between classes with your gal pals. You could also be printing out that last minute paper, or, maybe you just like working on the large screens.
1st Floor Old Side – Is that test really tomorrow? And you still are confused about half of the material? You’re probably in here. Or, you may have an exam in a few minutes and you came here to go over your study guide one final time.
1st Floor Old Side Computers – Your laptop either broke and you’re spending every minute you can writing that paper and glancing on Facebook, OR you need to finish up a quick paper and print it out before your class. Note: you will most likely be angry at people entering their information slowly on the print release, or those who print over 5 pages.
2nd Floor PLC – You took a stroll around the library and happened to find some friends sitting here so you joined them, naturally. If the Eagles won last night, you probably have a large iced coffee in your hand. You also actually have some work to do, so you probably have headphones on so as not to get bombarded with the latest “dram”.
2nd Floor PLC Computers – You are taking a class that requires Photoshop or one of the other programs on these computers. Or, you are double screening two assignments that need to get done ASAP. Or possibly, you are doing work with a significant other. Note: if the last option is not true, you may or may not be bitter about the cute couples doing work together.
2nd Floor Old Side – You find it hard to get work done around a constant murmur of buzz, so the library just makes more sense to you. You’re probably an upperclassman who has learned the hard way that the PLC is not the place for you to cram for that really important test (which you’re kind of currently freaking out about). Views of the skyline are great up here and you know it, which may be another reason you sat down at one of these wooden tables.
3rd Floor PLC – Well, that paper is not going to write itself so you better get going. It may not be due until next week but you know it’s one of those papers that will take a LONG time to compose. At least you don’t really have to worry about seeing someone you know up here so you may even be wearing sweatpants.
3rd Floor Old Side – There’s something so charming about working in the stacks, and it just calls to you. You have trained yourself into knowing that being in an enclosed desk means business, so you will be getting work done tonight if it’s the last thing you do. Your phone may be on Do Not Disturb, and your location in the library indicates this same message. Warning: watch out for couples who rendezvous up here.
