Her Campus: Congratulations with the position of The Event Lead for Relay this year! What do we have to look forward to with this year’s Relay?

Jill Rogers: We have many things to be excited for with this year’s Relay! We have an incredible theme that will be announced on October 31st at our Fall Kickoff, an enthusiastic committee of 170 people, and to hopefully reach our goal of $88,000 by the event on Friday the 13th, April 2018!

LG: Wow, that does sound exciting! How can more people get involved?

JR: Sign up for relayforlife.org/pastjoes…the sooner the better! Get your friends and family to donate, spread the word and together we can all make a difference. We have all been impacted by cancer in some way shape or form, and it’s something that affects us all.

LG: So, what is your favorite memory from Relay For Life?

JR: My ultimate favorite Relay memory would be from 2016. Our goal that year was $68,000 and three days prior to Relay, we went over $80,000! It was so incredible to see the community come together to accomplish this goal and it is definitely a memory I will cherish close to my heart, and hope to do this year!

LG: What is your favorite Quote?

JR: “I want to be like a sunflower, so that even on my darkest days, I will stand tall and find the sunlight.”

LG: How do you feel about being a senior?

JR: We do not talk about that…but actually, sensitive topic but I’ll be so (so, so) sad to leave, but I’m also excited for the future and what is to come, whatever that may be!

LG: Any advice for freshman?

JR: My advice to freshman is to get involved as soon as possible and to really immerse themselves into the SJU community here— follow their passions and it will truly help guide them to their path here at SJU and in life.

Thanks Jill for your answers and be sure to say hi to her on campus when you see her! Also, don’t forget to sign up for Relay!
