Being a die-hard fan of Target since my early pre-teen years, (3 words people: Cute. Affordable. Bikinis.) I have always been accepting of popular clothing brands merging with Target’s clothing line. In the past, popular brands such as Converse and Tom’s among many other brands combined their clothing lines with Target. Tar-jѐyyy, (extra emphasis on the eyyy’) as I like to call it, almost gave me heart palpitations when I heard that they were incorporating with every girl’s dream summer dress designer, Lilly Pulitzer.
What we excited ladies didn’t know was that the opening of Target’s ‘limited edition’ Lilly Pulitzer line would become a distorted mixture of “Preppy Black Friday” and The Hunger Games. Everyone’s inner Katniss Everdeen came out in the stores and online… and it definitely was for the worst.
First we’ll start off with the absurd eBay price markups on Lilly for Target’s clothing and accessories. This women’s dress was originally $38.00 at Target stores; Resulting in the “buy it now” eBay price of $335.00. lol. I’m sorry wut.
Next up we have the ever essential beach towels with a starting Target price of $25.00 each. Only to have eBay users set the “buy it now” price to $250.00…. These eBay users do know that you use beach towels to sweat on while trying to bronze/ wipe our sandy bodies off after a dip in the ocean right??
Some fellow tweeters had a few words to say about these eBay frauds (get it because they can only use 140 characters per tweet?! Ha…).
Taking a break from the internet shopping world, some more fellow tweeters gave us an unbelievable glimpse into the lines leading into Tar-jѐyyy.
Current thoughts on these lines: What do you do if you have to pee? …WHERE DO YOU CHARGE YOUR PHONE???
The world may never know ‘Bluegrass Belle”.
…You tell me whats worse; the line outside or this lady and her overly stocked/patterened cart?
RT ‘prepitude’ RT.
The next few tweets document the calm after the “Lily Storm”… atleast pick up the hangers people!
Now that we all have had a bad taste of Lily Betrayal… lets see what Target had to say (tweet) about the online shopping difficulties.
SUREEEEE TARGET! OR did the site just happen to crash so you could order your Lily merchandise before it was all gone?! Definitely a conspiracy theory to ponder when thinking of life thoughts in the shower.
After a hard defeat of not being able to fulfill retail therapy needs, the Twitter world has just about had it!
OK hate is a strong word ‘florida repubs’.
Seems like Sarah out smarted us all.
LOL #ThingsMyDadWouldSay
I feel you Becs “I wish that I could bake a cake made out of rainbows and smiles, and we’d all eat it and be happy.” …. Lilly do you even go here?!
And in the words of everyone’s WCW T. Swift, it is safe to say that Lily for Target was most definitely a nightmare.
Happy future shopping and may the odds ever be in your favor!
HCXO,
Jackie
