Last Minute Mother’s Day Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

With finals winding down, hopefully you’ve had the chance to remember that Mother’s Day is THIS Sunday! Mark your calendars because this is one of the most special days of the year for mothers across the nation. If you’re in search of a last minute Mother’s Day solution, check out some tips on how to make the day special for Mom, even if you’re still stuck at school!

1. Flowers (obvi)

The most obvious of solutions- flowers. Tulips, peonies, lilacs, orchids, roses, sunflowers- all great choices. It’s so easy to get flowers delivered to your doorstep with technology these days. All you have to do it Google “flower shops near (home)”, and so many options will come your way. Mom will be so surprised and feel appreciated.

2. Card (another obvi)

You’d be surprised at the amazing Papyrus collection the SJU bookstore has. The cards may be ~ $5- $10, but they are beautiful and so worth the smile she’ll receive when she opens it. Also, your Papyrus card will be hanging on the fridge for weeks, while your sibling’s handmade card will be quickly forgotten. Make sure to send this card asap so it gets there in time!

3. Edible Arrangments

I’m not speaking from experience, but I’ve always wanted someone to send me an Edible Arrangement, so why not send one to Mom? They are totally fit for an Instagram post and shoutout from your Mom. Check them out here!

4. Breakfast in Bed

If you’re lucky enough to be home this weekend because you’ve finished your finals, breakfast in bed is always a great option for Mother’s Day. 1) It doesn’t cost anything and 2) it will show how much you really care. The little things like this are the most appreciated.

5. Phone Call

Sometimes I may get carried away with gifts and forget that I am a college student on a college budget, and there is no one who knows this better than your Mother. So, waking up early in the morning, so she knows you remembered, will do in wishing your Mom a Happy Mother’s Day. A phone call goes a looooong way.

In the end, don’t forget this day of the year because you know what Moms always say… “Everyday should be Mother’s Day”… and we all know that is not possible! Sorry Mom!
