On Wednesday morning an interview with R Kelly and Gayle King aired on CBS. The interview was R. Kelly’s first interview since he was charged with ten accounts of aggravated sexual assault and abuse of four females. He was briefly incarcerated in a Chicago jail where he was unable to post his bail of $100,000, but was eventually bailed out.

In the interview, Kelly relentlessly denied these charges, an impassioned report Kelly said, “Thirty years of my career! And y’all trying to kill me? You killing me, man! This is not about music! I’m trying to have a relationship with my kids! And I can’t do it! Y’all just don’t want to believe the truth! You don’t want to believe it!”

Kelly is set to be jailed again in account of not paying for over $100,000 in child support payments to his ex-wife.

The sexual allegations of R. Kelly renewed interest and sparked review after a documentary series on Lifetime aired earlier this year called “Surviving R. Kelly”. The victims of the abuse recounted their experiences with Kelly.  Kelly stated the women in the tell all were describing him as ‘lucifer’, and he was not the devil, he was a man that makes mistakes.

This was not the first time Kelly has been charged with sexual abuse. In 2002 he was accused with misconduct and child pornography, both of these charges were cleared by the jury in 2008.

He told King in the interview that he already beat his case. “When you beat something,” he said, “you beat it. You cannot double jeopardy me like that, it’s not fair.”

He told watchers to “use your common sense” and got angry about the accusations, claiming he wasn’t a monster, stomping his foot as he raised his voice defending himself. Later apologizing to King saying  it was the first time he was able to actually speak on these matters and defend himself.
