In early 2015, tragedy struck for teenage girls across the world – boy band One Direction split up. “Directioners” anticipated a return from the beloved group’s so called hiatus for weeks, months, years – yet to no avail. Hope still remains for the legendary group to band together once more, yet this hope often overshadows the individual careers of the former members of One Direction – more specifically, Harry Edward Styles.

Many pop culture aficionados still perceive Harry Styles as the shaggy haired, teenage heartthrob that so many twelve year old girls fell for the moment “What Makes You Beautiful” was released. However, Harry Styles is doing so much more than just singing catchy pop songs now.

First of all, he recently released single “Lights Up,” which, if I do say so myself, is probably the best pop song of 2019. It’s beautiful, powerful, and honestly flawless in every way, and yes, I have been listening to it on loop since the day it came out. The song is perfect to be featured on the next season of HBO’s “Euphoria”… just saying. Give it a listen if you haven’t already, it’ll be worth the entire 2 minutes and 52 seconds.

Looking past Harry’s uncanny talent, one MUST recognize his style – no pun intended. His 2019 Met Gala look provided us with his uniquely individual style, as well as an outfit androgynous style icon David Bowie would be envious of. Now, I’m not saying Harry Styles is the David Bowie of our generation, I’m just saying give him a couple more years and check back with me then. Styles consistently serves looks each and every time he goes out in public.

Whether it be a bold powder blue suit or a simple white tee shirt with black jeans, he continues to walk the walk as if it’s any small feat. All I’m asking is that we drag our attention away from Kylie Jenner’s “Rise and Shine” moment for just a moment in order to shine a greater light on the multi-faceted Harry Styles.
