Fun and Flirty 4th of July Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

I literally can’t believe that it’s already The 4th of July. The summer is passing by so quickly and before we know it, it’ll be time to pack our bags up for Hawk Hill again! But for now… the books are staying shut and the temperature is only getting hotter. Now I’m sure that the rising temperatures mean very minimal makeup for most of us right now, but The 4th of July should definitely be an exception! It’s a day to have fun with your look, show off your tan and get festive! This look is quick, easy, and fabulous.

The first step is your base! Feel free to use whatever you’re most comfortable with, even if that’s nothing at all. If you have amazing skin, flaunt it. For this look, I simply used a touch of the Revlon ColorStay Concealer on any red spots. Then I used a fluffy powder brush to sweep Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder all over for a warm bronzy glow. Simple, easy, done!

And onto the eyes… I first applied a gorgeous shimmery navy blue shadow from Victoria’s Secret all over the lid. The shadow isn’t super pigmented so it’s not too out there, but it looks lovely and is perfect for this look. Then I lined the upper lash line with Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black and winged it out for a bit of added drama. This gel liner most definitely rivals the Bobbi Brown gel liners and is significantly less expensive! I finished off the eyes with three coats of Benefit They’re Real Mascara. This mascara makes your lashes super voluminous and fluttery in the prettiest way possible!

Nothing looks hotter than a classic red lip. You’ll stand out in a crowd and simply sparkle all night. For this look I used the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick in On Fire Red. I’m in love with that name but that’s beside the point. It’s a fabulously pigmented bright red that will brighten your entire face. It’s festive, fun, and perfect for the 4th of July! It also lasts incredibly well so you’ll only need to touch up once throughout the night!

If she could play with and test out makeup and skincare products all day, she'd be one happy camper. Besides being a total beauty junkie, she's also obsessed with fashion, music, writing (of course), and running. This past summer she interned for Lovelyish.com and wrote her heart out about beauty, fashion and more. She dreams of being a beauty editor at a big time magazine such as Seventeen, Glamour, or Cosmo!
