Five Stores for the Unconventional Shopper

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

As someone who is an enthusiast for fashion, I often find myself shopping at local boutiques. I am a firm believer in the saying, “your style introduces you before, you even speak,” so I love dressing differently and expressing myself via…. my clothes. To me, fashion is undoubtedly a form of art.

Boutiques offer unique items. Often when you step inside one, the atmospheres are welcoming, and you can sense the passion within the local owner. Being that I am from Scranton (nearly two hours away), I wanted to find some boutiques in the Philadelphia area, that not only reflected my style, but offered affordable and super cute clothing. Here are five that I found!

DFTI Boutique – Philadelphia, PA

DFTI Boutique is a trendy shop where new clothing and accessories come in daily. Designs are high-end looking. All styles are under $100- perfect for those who enjoy keeping up with fashion yet are on a budget.

Smak Parlor – Philadelphia, PA

If your style is indie and vintage inspired yet contemporary, this is the boutique for you. There is a wide range of colorful and printed clothing and accessories. The store carries their own line of clothing, which uses various patterns and is crafted in the U.S. To top things off everything is under $100.

Boujee – Bryn Mawr, PA

A young and relatively new boutique, Boujee offers cute and trendy apparel at reasonable prices. If you are looking for an outfit to go out in with the girls, you might want to check this store out.

Never too Spoiled – Philadelphia, PA

What started down South, made its way to Philadelphia filling it with fun and cozy clothing. This boutique is affordable and unique. Not only does it carry sustainable clothing brands, it sells home décor.

Rowen – Narberth, PA

In some respects, this boutique is like Boujee, but it has some flair of indie. It carries staple pieces, such as embellished jean jackets and animal print dresses.
