Campus Celeb: Lamarr “Fresh” Kimble

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

Meet this week’s Campus Celeb, Lamarr Kimble, or better known as Fresh. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Fresh to talk about his first year at SJU and basketball.

Year: Freshman

Major: Communications

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

HC: How did you get the nickname “Fresh”?

LK: It was a childhood nickname that kind of grew with me as I was playing basketball and everybody now just calls me “Fresh”.

HC: When did you start playing basketball?

LK: Since I was about four or five, so for a long time.

HC: Why did you choose SJU?

LK: It was a just a perfect fit. I had a good relationship with Phil Martelli and I knew some of the players that went here so it was all around just a good fit for me.

HC: What is your favorite thing about SJU?

LK: Probably the family like atmosphere. It’s a really likeable environment. Nobody is bored or anything and you get along with a lot of people.

HC: What else do you like to do besides basketball?

LK: I like playing video games and shop, things like that and just having fun.

HC: What is your favorite memory from the NCAA tournament?

LK: Probably Isaiah Miles hitting that game winner against Cincinnati. It was really great to see. I was on the court at the time and to see that ball go in and know that we possibly won the game on that shot was great.

HC: What are your plans for the next three years?

LK: To graduate and excel as much as I can on the basketball court.

HC: What is the best thing about being on the basketball team?

LK: Everybody on the basketball team is like brothers to me. It’s like having a second family. I’m cool with every guy on there and everybody gets along so that’s kind of the best thing, the chemistry we have between all of us.

HC: What is your favorite memory from this year?

LK: I would say my favorite memory is the game against Dayton. That was probably my best game of the season. That was a great memory for me. I can always look back and say I did good against a ranked team.

HC: What are you looking forward to most in next year’s season?

LK: Trying to win and be back-to-back Atlantic 10 Champions. Kind-of the goal is trying to go back-to-back and make it to the tournament again.

As you can see, Fresh is a great guy so make sure to say hi if you see this week’s Campus Celeb around campus!

HCXO,
