I had the opportunity to sit down with this week’s Campus Celeb, Charlie Martin, and learned all about this sophomore from his major to his go-to Campion meal!
HC: Where are you from?
CM: I am from Hatfield, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour away from SJU.
HC: What grade are you in?
CM: I am a sophomore.
HC: What is your major?
CM: My major is Food Marketing, but ironically I just found out that pickles came from cucumbers, so I have a lot of work to do.
HC: What are you involved in on campus?
CM: Good question. Well, I am going on APEX in about a week! I also am in the Food Marketing Association, Hawks vs. Cancer, Hand In Hand, and I went on Ignite freshman retreat last year.
HC: What made you choose Saint Joe’s?
CM: Well originally I wasn’t really looking at Saint Joe’s until I was invited to a Food Marketing dinner that I ended up going to, which really sparked my interest. So I decided to visit the winter of my senior year and ended up loving the campus. It was really back and forth between here and Temple but went with Saint Joe’s, which ended up being such a great decision.
HC: What’s your favorite part about Saint Joes?
CM: I definitely would say my favorite part about Saint Joe’s is the people here. I think it has to do with the fact that I went to a Catholic high school, and the people here are very similar to people I grew up around. I feel like I really relate to people here and their backgrounds, more so than I do when I go to other schools.
HC: What is your go-to campion meal?
CM: Probably pasta, specifically tortellini with sausage and alfredo sauce. But honestly I really love the chips, especially the sour cream and onion ones. I get them with almost every single meal. I don’t know if that counts as a “meal” but if it does then forget the pasta.
HC: Single or Taken?
CM: Definitely single 100%. Scratch that 110%.
HC: Planning on going abroad next year? If so, where to?
CM: Yes! I am so excited for this. I am going to Rome in the fall!
HC: Have any pet peeves?
CM: I absolutely hate when people are late. There is nothing worse than waiting around for someone.
HC: Do you have a guilty pleasure?
CM: Listening to Rihanna music for sure. I actually don’t feel guilty about this one at all. I have a huge crush.
HC: What is your go-to Netflix show?
CM: Breaking Bad, I definitely would recommend watching it.
HC: Describe for us your style
CM: Pretty average honestly. Jeans, khakis, Tims, Nikes, Solid T’s, I have a pretty relaxed style, nothing special.
