People. Everywhere.
After being buried in coats, hats, and scarves for three months, we begin to emerge from our downfeather-stuffed, nylon shells and see the sun. No longer do we frantically pace from building to building to avoid the bitter cold. Now is the time when all of Hawk Hill stops to smell the roses, either between classes to catch up with friends or just taking the long way to get a little extra vitamin-D — embrace it!
Â
Frisbees.
Seems simple enough…
Something about a light breeze and a few extra hours of daylight brings on an urge to throw something. With frisbees, lacrosse sticks, and footballs in hand, there’s something special about kicking back and playing around with some friends.Â
So as your gazing off into the sun, please watch out for flying objects, thank you!
Â
Pastels.
Whether it’s a sundress, a sweater, or shorts – welcome, Dorothy, to the world of color! Hawks are trading in their fifty shades of gray for their Easter-wear. As if the sun weren’t bright enough, fellow classmates have taken it upon themselves to impress you with their most prized pink oxfords, teal shorts, and floral patterns. Bring it on.
Giving up on classwork.
Post-spring break, Hawks tend to lose their motivation for completing assignments. It could be the enticing weather as it slowly creeps toward our most cherished summertime, or after months of hard work beginning to step back and appreciate the more important things – friendship and community. So go join that group of friends at the picnic table outside campion or jump in the game of touch football on the Villiger Lawn, the paper can wait.
Â
ACTIVITIES!
With all this sunshine and mild weather, we’re no longer trapped in our dorms and apartments on the weekends. It could be a backyard barbecue, a trip into the city, or an adventure along Kelly Drive… whatever it is, we’re excited about it.Â
Â
Spring Concert
LUDA! It’s the buzz around campus, from Macklemore to Krewella to this year’s headliner, Ludacris! You could be a die-hard fan or you could have never heard a single Luda-rhyme, but that’s all about to change, gather up your friends and prepare for one of the single-most SJU defining nights of the spring semester, and stay safe!
Â
The Influx of Barbelin Instagrams
As if they really died down over the winter? But the spring time at least brings a lesser need for a filter. So prepare that double-tapping thumb for a workout as we can’t help but gawk at Barb’s springtime glory.
Â
Graduation Woes
And on a more depressing note, with all the sunshine and smiles, we prepare to send off our eldest Hawks into the big, bad world. Grad school, careers, and volunteer years – as seniors gather up their caps and gowns and soak up their last precious moments as students on Hawk Hill, remember to show your appreciation for the ones who have led the way all year.

Have a beautiful, safe, light-hearted, care-free, double-tap worthy, pastel-filled Spring!
Soak it up.
