5 Ways to Manage Your Time and Life Like An Adult

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

Hello to all of my fellow procrastinators and sleep deprived classmates. I have struggled for my whole high school and college careers when it comes to doing my assignments in a timely manner. I have experienced my fair share of all-nighters and have even completed papers minutes before, or more like minutes after, class has begun. However, times have changed and this semester I have finally learned how to “adult “. Here are some tips that have helped me manage my time this semester and repel stress:

1. Planner: A planner can instantaneously change your life. Once you start to use one you will feel less stressed and more in control of your life. Utilize this organizational tool leading up to finals week to end the semester strong!

2. “Stickies”: The Mac computers come with an application called “Stickies” which basically are post-it notes. Put them on your desktop and type in your schedule and assignments due for the day, the week, or even the semester!

3. Save To Your Computer Desktop: Try saving your assignments to your desktop, it’s a nice constant visual of what you need to get done. Once you submit or hand in the assignment save the document to your word documents folder and delete it from your desktop!

4. Pack Ahead: A helpful tip in order to have a stress free morning is to pack your backpack, lunch, and prepare your coffee the night before. Doing these things at night compared to the morning is a huge game changer.

5. Do not procrastinate: To simply put it, get ahead of the work instead of behind it. Once you start to break this habit and do your tasks in a timely manner your life will become less stressful, you’ll smile more, and the sleep you will get is phenomenal.

I hope these tips help you finish the semester strong!
