The transition of summer to fall is approaching us quickly and the weather changes in the season can mess up our outfits. As a college student, I don’t have the funds to buy a new wardrobe for the fall season. With my limited clothing options, I’ll tell you how I’m preparing for the changing seasons.

Layering is going to be your best friend when using summer pieces for the fall season. The favorite crop top that was profusely used in the summer can be topped off with a knit cardigan for extra warmth on those crisp fall nights.

Cardigans are amazing for the transition as they can be a light layer or a chunky knit that will warm you up throughout the night. Many cardigans can be statement pieces while others can be a basic layering top, it caters to everyone’s preference.

Throughout the fall season, I don’t want to be limited to only wearing jeans, which is why tights under skirts and dresses are the best combination. Another plus to this is that you don’t have to worry about shaving because no one will see your legs.

Most of the shirts that are worn throughout the summer can be paired with jeans instead of shorts and topped off with a jacket for extra warmth if needed.

Always having basics is a good thing, they can be switched out throughout the seasons with no complications. Many of these are already in people’s closets without them realizing it!

If there is a need to buy new clothing for this transitional period, always make sure to check out local thrift stores first. Clothing from thrift stores are relatively inexpensive and you can always find one-of-a-kind pieces that others won’t be rocking this fall.
