While the world may be in distress, this doesn’t give reason to give up on the positive mindset that we should all have. These times may make it more difficult to find enjoyable moments, but that can only make us all appreciate the smaller things in life we are given. The following five simple self-care acts can help us to keep a healthy and happier mindset through these times.

As this may seem common, it is extremely effective, would just be to write down some affirmations. This act may not seem all that large, but by putting in our blessings into the universe, it will allow for a greater outcome. This is something that can be practiced at any time of the day that you find best. When you feel motivated, grab a paper and write down each of your affirmations three times. In continuing to do this each day, you will find a more encouraging outlook on life.

Trust me when I say doing a face mask of any kind can do wonders. Find some time in the evening to just put on a face mask, turn on some music, and close your eyes. This allows your body time to lay down and reset in order to continue on your daily routine. The body and the mind need their rest in order to continue functioning as they normally do. Along with doing this, grab your favorite dessert and enjoy it! Finding a balance in your life is the key to maintaining both your physical and mental health.

Finding a movie that you become fully occupied in can take your mind off of just about anything. Go ahead and log onto Netflix and search through the thousands of movie options available to view. The multitude of genres can fit to cater any mood you are in to watch. This also doesn’t have to mean just one movie, you can turn it into a lazy day where it’s dedicated to watching different films all day. In doing so, this gives an excuse to grab your favorite drink, some popcorn, candy and a blanket to curl up on the couch with.

Baking any type of sweet can bring up anyone’s mood. If you are extremely interested in baking go ahead and find a recipe off the internet and get going. If you’re like me, we might have to make them out of the box in order to make sure they turn out good. This activity will require all your focus and attention, so you would not have the time to worry about anything else. Additionally, this is something that you can share with friends and family once you are done. It’s something that can spread positivity.

This may not be at the top of anyone’s list, but taking a walk outside can do wonders for us all. Whether you go alone or you are accompanied, take a moment to breathe in the fresh air and take in all of your surroundings. This gives you a moment to enjoy the beauty of nature that is around us while clearing your mind of ideas weighing you down.

These are five simple self-care acts I recommend that we all do in order to remain positive and encourage our peers to do so as well.
