3 Winter Date Ideas That You Can Try While in Quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJSU chapter.

Winter is usually the time that couples go out and enjoy holiday festivities with one another. But with the intersection of the COVID-19 pandemic and the flu season, it can be extremely difficult to see your partner or plan dates during these hard times. Here are some ways that you can safely plan a date with your partner either online or at home!

1. Use Netflix Party or go to a drive-in movie!

If you are unable to be with your significant other during the holidays, you can use Netflix party for a movie night. Netflix Party recently expanded its extension to a variety of streaming sites such as Disney Plus, Hulu and HBO.

If you are able to be with your significant other during the holidays, you can also plan to go to a drive-in movie. There are two drive-in movie theaters in the Bay Area: West Wind Capitol Drive-in in San Jose, and Movies at the Beach in Santa Cruz.

2. Try out a new cooking or baking recipe together!

Cooking or baking is a great date idea that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home! There are endless choices of free online recipes that you can choose from. Here are lists of easy holiday meal and dessert recipes that you and your partner can try together!

3. Visit a view spot or a park!

If you are around the area, Christmas in the Park is now open in San Jose, CA from Nov. 27 to Jan. 3! Due to COVID-19, Christmas in the Park is now a drive-through attraction available by reservation. The reservation price ranges from $10-$40 depending on the time slot you select. This is a great way to visit a classic holiday venue through the comfort of your own car! Tickets are available on the Christmas in the Park ticket portal- just select the date and choose what time you would like to visit.

Even though many couples can’t physically be together, the holidays can still be as romantic as ever. Let us know if you try out any of these date ideas! Share your pics with us @HerCampusSJSU on Instagram and Twitter. Happy Holidays!
