Keeping February Fashion Forward

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Simmons chapter.

In New England, February is a cold month. It usually has at least one blizzard, heavy wind, and can create a lack of motivation or joy in someone’s wardrobe. Here is a list of clothes and accessories that everyone should have in their closets in the month of February!

1. Snow boots

Although somewhat of a given with where Simmons is, snow boots are the key to keeping your feet warm. However, many pairs of snow boots are often not the most stylish. Depending on your budget and what your style is, I recommend the Timberland Waterproof boots. These are on the more expensive side, but are guaranteed to last a very long time. On the cheaper side, Totes Babbie boots are perfect for the snow. They run small, but are perfect because of their simplicity, yet chic design. I love how easy they are to get on, how they keep my feet warm, and that they are below a $50 budget.

2. Animal Print!

I personally love to see that animal print, especially cheetah/leopard print has made a comeback. What was once tacky is now stylish. Animal print is amazing for a lot of reasons. It can be stylish and chic, feminine, masculine, or anything else. It is a versatile print because of how you can wear it and when you wear it.

3. Jeans

Although jeans are about as American as apple pie and baseball, jeans are something that many people complain about. People often complain that the sizing in jeans is never consistent throughout a store, or just in general that jeans don’t always work for some body types. I am a big fan of jeans as a whole. My favorite jeans are the Old Navy Rockstar style. They are not only comfortable but fit perfectly on me. Jeans are also more durable and wind resistant, so they will keep you warmer longer when it is cold out.

4. Cardigans

Cardigans are a type of sweater that is perfect because there is so many different ways to wear it. You can button them, wear them open with a tank top underneath, etc. They are great sweaters to have in your closet because of how versatile they are.

5. Cable-knit sweaters

Cable-knit sweaters are very thick sweaters. They are warm and cozy. Although not the most stylish, they are sure to keep you warm when the temperature feels like it is in the single digits.

6. Patagonia sweatshirts

Although this is very specific, I have always loved the look of Patagonia sweaters. They are casual, but also stylish and comfortable. Not to mention, Patagonia is a very good company because of how they treat the people who make their clothing and because of their work with climate change.
