How to Answer Life Questions Over Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Simmons chapter.

You may love them, you may hate them, but either way, you’re seeing them over the holidays, so you best be ready. They will ask you the questions that you don’t want to hear, so let me help you. Here are some examples of questions you may be asked and some responses to give, feel free to mix your responses!

Question: What are your plans post-graduation?

Answer: Can you pass the turkey?

Question: Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend/significant other?

Answer: Shove mashed potatoes in your mouth.

Question: Why aren’t you dating anyone?

Answer: Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom.

Question: Are you going to grad school? Have you applied? Have you taken the GRE?

Answer: Does anyone need help cooking?

Question: Have you got a job yet? Have you applied? How about internships?

Answer: Scream at the football game on TV and pretend to know what’s going on.

Question: What do you want to do with your life?

Answer: I think the dog needs to go for a walk!

Question: How’s school going?

Answer: Pretend to not hear them and sing along to the Macy’s Day Parade.

Good luck and happy Thanksgiving!
