HC Simmons at College Fashion Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Simmons chapter.

I’m sure you’ve all heard us preach about the dozens of opportunities that Her Campus provides for its members – internships, events, free goodies and more –  but this time around we can speak from personal experience.

We worked as two of the four CFW externs this year. In case you aren’t familiar, an extern is a short out of office internship experience. Our job entailed many roles, including managing models, assisting in fittings and running clothing pulls. We got to work with some other really great people at HC including leaders of other local chapters and the Co-Founder Annie Wang.

College Fashion week is one of HC’s biggest events of the year. It is held in Boston and New York City, and this year Boston alone attracted over 700 attendees. The show featured lines from three up-and-coming designers as well as accessories and looks from one of its largest sponsors, Primark. The goal of CFW is to promote fashionable but affordable clothing worn by a diverse group of models that are meant represent all kinds of college students.

The partner brands themselves were unique and featured wide ranges of styles.

The first brand, XIX Palms is based in Hawaii. The line features bold colors and flowy silhouettes. Your next beach vacation is calling!

Cleobella was the second brand to appear in the show. This line offers chic, feminine designs with beautiful patterns. The vibe screams “modern romance” and would be perfect for next spring’s Coachella.

The final brand, Vetta, offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to fast-fashion with their Minimal Capsule line. The line is made up of only five pieces, each one with the versatility to wear a number of ways. All together, the five pieces can create up to 30 unique outfits.

We had so much fun planning the show, and I’m sure it showed if you follow us on social media! The day of the show went by so fast, but it was such an amazing experience. We learned a lot of valuable skills through this experience including team work and staying organized in fast-paced work environments.
