Strong Female Lead
Rey knows how to handle herself, and she doesn’t need a man. But, she’s still not afraid to ask for help when she needs it, nor is she afraid to offer her friends help.

Not only does The Force Awakens give us a female main character, but actor John Boyega stars.
And even better, their races and gender have no play in their parts in the story. Finn is treated the same as the white characters, and Rey is treated the same as the male characters. No one tells Finn that he’s beneath someone else, and no one expects less from Rey because she’s a girl… not even the villian.

Captain Phasma is the leader of the First Order army that Finn was a part of. She knows Finn’s number and personally checks up on him after his first battle. She probably knows all of the others personally, too, because she cares.
