Let’s talk about some PLANTS, but first let me tell you why I’m now a crazy plant lady.

This all started because I decided to take a plant physiology class this semster. I was very skeptical at first about getting my hands dirty, and knowing that I had the ability to kill my old cactus made me nervous. For the record, I overwatered it (aka I cared too much). I really wanted to learn more about plants, how they work, and how to take care of them. Now here I am. This was me before I took my plant class:

I love all aspects of plants, plus they’re very cute and help positively contribute to the environment. I decided to use my knowledge to grow a plant from a little itty bitty seed into a big strong plant.

I got a self watering planter kit from Target, and set up a perfect spot for my little seeds. Right now in my room I’m growing Hypoestes phyllostachya, also known as a polka dot plant (google them, they’re VERY cute), and also trying to germinate aloe seeds for one of my friends. Look at this slow motion video of this seedling development, honestly it’s super cool.

Set up and growing them is not super hard, but symbolically it means more to me. It’s like having the responsibility of taking care of something and putting in time and effort into something in order to have something beautiful. It really is beautiful, and it definitely takes some time to appreciate the whole process. This is me:

Appreciate your little green friends!
