As spring break quickly approaches, you may find yourself daydreaming in class about the vacation you have been anxiously awaiting for months.
Â
And now it is almost here! But, wait, you’re snapped out of your daydream in a panic because you’ve just remembered: you haven’t started packing!
Â
Well fear-not my fellow procrastinators! For I have pulled together a not-so-conventional list of what to pack, how to prep, and things to keep in mind for your trip. Whether you’re hitting the slopes or the sand this spring break, don’t forget about these few essentials:
1. Sunscreen & Moisturizer:  First and foremost, you must prep your skin for the sun. It has been a long, cold winter stuck indoors and your skin hasn’t seen the light of day in who knows how long. You WILL burn your first time in the sun, so make sure you keep moisturizing and use sunscreen when outdoors! Your wrinkle-free 50 year-old self will thank you for it.
2. Books & Magazines: Spring break is a great time to catch up on some non-school-related readings, so use your time wisely. Be sure to load up your Kindle or stock up at Barnes & Noble with all the books you’ve been dying to read!
3. Camera: While the camera on your iPhone is convenient, the picture quality simply doesn’t match up to that of a traditional digital or film camera. If you have one, pack it! Happy snapping!
4. Chargers, Headphones, Aux Cords, etc.: These simple day-to-day items seem obvious, but are easily forgotten. Make sure to pack all the ones you will need.
5. Plan for your “Time of the Month”: Ladies, it is easy to get wrapped up in the idea of a vacation but, don’t forget there is the possibility Mother Nature could drop off her monthly gift while you’re lounging by the pool. As unfortunate as it may seem, be sure to pack accordingly.
6. Passport & Travel Documents: You won’t be going anywhere without them!
7. Pack in neutral colors: My mother always told me the easiest way to pack is to only pack in neutrals: black, gray, white, beige, and denim. That way, it is easier to mix-and-match your outfits and you can jazz them up with less cumbersome accessories such as statement jewelry, a colorful belt, funky sunglasses, cute bag, or a fun hat! Your suitcase will be much lighter and dressing while away will be a whole lot simpler.
Happy travels!
