I have always loved to travel and want to someday travel around the world. Since I am still in college, I have not been able to start traveling the world too much, but I did have the amazing opportunity to spend spring break with my boyfriend in Palm Beach and Hypoluxo, Florida. Neither of us had really traveled without our families before, so we were both a little anxious with all the planning. Being my mother’s daughter, I made sure we started planning months in advance for the trip, which I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of traveling because the prices on everything are much less expensive. In the weeks leading up to the vacation, I was getting more and more excited. Luckily, we had no flight delays and everything went smoothly. When we got to Florida, we went right to the beach of course!

Beach days are the best days!

The water was beautiful and crystal clear. It was great to just lay on the beach to relax and go swimming whenever we wanted. Unfortunately, I’m very pale and got sunburned even though I put sunscreen on. The ocean washed it right off and I should definitely have been better about re-applying it. We also had to worry about Man-o-War jellyfish that were floating around in the water. If you get stung, it’s more severe than a regular jellyfish and you could even end up in the hospital from it. We saw a few washed up on the beach, but didn’t see any when we were swimming. Even though I got sunburned and had to watch out for jellyfish, the beach was still a ton of fun!

Kayaking was a bust.

I love to work out when I get the chance, but kayaking was not for me. My boyfriend and I used a two-person kayak on the bay. It was beautiful in the morning, but my noodle arms got tired quickly. I give props to anyone who kayaks for fun and also carries it to the water themselves because it was a struggle even though my boyfriend is pretty strong.

Dropped my boyfriend off at the zoo.

Just kidding! We did go to the zoo though! I love animals, and we saw a ton of different types there. Most of them were endangered and had survival plans for the sake of their species. A rare Bengal tiger was at the zoo and is on the brink of extinction in East Asia. It’s amazing to know that animals like this have people looking out for and helping them.

Sea turtles are my favorite!

Turtles are my absolute favorite animal, so of course, we had to drive to the Loggerhead Marine Life Preserve in Jupiter, Florida. The people who work there rehabilitate sea turtles that are struggling to live in the wild. The turtles have lived through some sort of trauma such as being hit by boats, being tied up in fishing lines, survived shark attacks, etc. I’m glad people are giving back to the marine life in a positive way like this.

The meals were fantastic.

Being near the ocean, the seafood is always amazing. We got some great calamari, New England clam chowder, swordfish, grouper, and other types of fish. I’m not a huge fish person, but it was delicious!

The worst part of a vacation is when it’s time to leave. I don’t want to go back to all of the projects and tests! I’m happy I was able to get away from all that for a week and spend some time with my boyfriend though. Until next time, 80-degree weather!
