Siena Girls’ Guide to Dressing for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

Ladies, it’s that time of year again! Break out the Uggs, flannels, and yoga pants. Grab a coffee at Starbucks, wrap up in that favorite infinity scarf of yours, kick back, and watch “Frozen.” Fall is here with bonfires, Pumpkin Spice lattes, apple picking, Halloween, and – the best part – warm, cozy outfits.

So you have to wake up early for that eight o’clock class, you didn’t go to bed until three or four in the morning (totally because you were studying), and you didn’t have the heart to plan your outfit the night before. You don’t want to look like a slob who just rolled out of bed with grease stains on your sweater from the pizza you ate the night before, but you also don’t want to make it look completely obvious that you didn’t try. What do you do? Throw on your favorite, comfiest pair of jeans. Skinny and ripped are always a good go-to. Throw on comfy boots or cute flats and your favorite solid colored sweater – it is sweater weather after all. Top it off with a messy bun and stud earrings. You’ll look fresh in no time!

Say you don’t have too many plans for the day other than class, homework, and maybe going out to eat. You want to spend time doing some makeup in the morning, but you don’t want to look cute and preppy. Not a problem! Throw on a solid colored shirt – the more neutral the better – with a flannel that incorporates that color. Put on your favorite pair of leggings and Converse, low or high top. Top it off with a beanie! You’ll be good to go.

Today is the day you’ve been waiting for all week. It’s the day where you have a class with that guy who you can’t stop thinking about, and you really want to impress him. Or it’s the day where you and the girls were planning on going out shopping! You want to look cute and done up. It doesn’t really matter how long it takes, you just want to look on point. Let me ask you this: When do girls not look awesome in a dress that fits them and their style? Never! So, today would be a perfect time to crack out that cute but casual dress you’ve been waiting to wear all year. Don’t have a dress? Crack out that cute skirt that’s been collecting dust and tuck in a white, black, or grey t-shirt. Throw on a jean jacket, sheer black tights, and short boots with a heel! Grab a pair of sunglasses and your hoop earrings. You’ll definitely catch that guy’s attention or look the most dapper amongst your group of friends.

Listen, I could sit here all day writing about different outfits you can wear, from casual to cute, laid back to fancy, comfy to “beauty is pain,” but I won’t because I don’t want to bore you to death. What I can do is say that everyone has their own style, so dress accordingly and don’t be someone you’re not. Take an outfit idea you might like and put your own twist on it, whether it means substituting Converse with Uggs, short heel boots with tall boots, or flats with Nikes! Do it whether it’s wearing an infinity scarf instead of a necklace or a fedora instead of a beanie! Who cares! It’s your closet, your style, and your body! Make it your own. Just remember that it’s a myth that only certain body types look good in certain outfits. You’re beautiful just the way you are, no matter what social media has to say.

Here are a few more looks anyone could most definitely pull off! Enjoy!
