We here at Her Campus Siena think it’s impossible to go to Siena without knowing Raychelle Werking. Whether she’s giving a tour of campus, planning the annual Relay for Life event, or getting some homework done by the fire on The Paddock, Werking radiates school spirit wherever she goes – and trust us it’s infectious.

Favorite spot on campus: The Paddock because of the fire pit. It’s the perfect place to socialize AND get some work.
Favorite on campus food: Chicken picatta night in Lonnstrom.
HC Siena: You started your senior year off with a second year of being a SAINT. How did you come to love Siena so much?
Raychelle Werking: I fell in love with it back when my sister Cass went here. I knew I wanted to go here when I came and visited here. She was really involved so seeing that definitely influenced me.
HC Siena: What was your favorite thing about being a SAINT?
RW: Letting my “mom” side come out by showing my Saintees all of my favorite parts of Siena. I want them to fall in love with this school the way I did.
HC Siena: You were a Pathfinder freshman year and became an Ambassador your sophomore year. What do you most try to convey when giving tours to prospective students?
It’s funny because as a marketing major, it’s easy to “market” Siena, but everything I say during a tour is completely geniune. I want these prospective students to see that I’m not reading off a script, I care about everything I’m saying. Being “real” with them is important because it shows them that Siena truly is the place for them.
HC Siena: To continue with the theme of school spirit – not one year has passed that you don’t make it on advertisements for our Siena Saints. Do you have any advice for people trying to make it big like you?
RW: Go big or go home. You have to show the most school spirit, dress up in as much green and gold as you can. Get to the buses early so you can get to the front of the Dog Pound. Go crazy.
HC Siena: This year you’re taking over as president of Colleges Against Cancer. Can you talk about your involvement in the club and what we can expect from your group this year?
RW: I’ve been invo;ved since freshman year. Last year was my first year on the eboard as secretary. I have a passion for helping others and trying to find a cure for cancer. Last year at our Relay for Life event we raised $20,000 and I hope to beat that this year.
HC Siena: How can people join your club?

HC Siena: You’re obviously very involved on campus. Why do you think this it’s important to be involved on Siena’s campus? Do you have any advice for people looking to become more involved?
RW: Siena is not the same without involvement on campus. In my experience it makes you a better person, especially because so much of our endeavors reach out to the communities surrounding Siena. You get to meet people with the same passions as you. If you’re looking to get more involved find a club or organization that you think will enjoy but requires you to come out of your shell. Also, actually attend meetings – don’t just sign up for things.
HC Siena: What are your plans for after Siena?
RW: Hopefully, grad school! I’m interested in working for a non-profit to continue my legacy for helping people outside of Siena.
