When people typically think of college, one of the first things that come to mind is partying. I’m not going to say that partying is bad, I just don’t see the point of it. For me, the idea of not remembering what I did the night before is scary, not fun.
Every weekend, I hear and see people running around and blasting music from their rooms and I immediately think they are partying. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy socially drinking every now and again, I think that is totally fine. The thing I don’t do and don’t understand is the blacking out every weekend and never remembering what you did the night before. I understand the whole “I just want to let loose for a night and I’m going to hang out with some friends and have a few drinks” thing. It is when this happens every night or every weekend that it then turns into getting blackout drunk and just not remembering anything or very little from the night before. I have never been super crazy about the whole party scene and I have lost friends over it. At Siena though, I have been pretty fortunate with finding friends who are not crazy about the whole party scene either. I am more of the type of person where my ideal night would be hanging out with friends or my boyfriend and just watching a movie or just doing something fun together. I have seen firsthand what it is like to drink way too much and either hug the toilet all night or someone wake up the next day and ask me what happened last night. Watching that makes me not want to ever experience that because that’s not fun for me. I don’t want to have to rely on other people to tell me what happened the night before or have to sleep by the toilet at night. The party scene can be great for some people, it just isn’t for me. I would rather sit at home and “be boring” then not remember anything from the night before.
