Guess what? We made it! We successfully made it through another semester during a pandemic. Although this semester was nothing that I thought my Junior year of college would look like, I am grateful I had the opportunity to be with my friends and basically teach myself in every class. This semester was full of new obstacles and challenges that nobody was prepared for. But, we are not going to be talking about this past semester are we? Let’s talk about being home for the holidays!

I have been home for about four full days. I may already be sick of my parents, but I am happy to be sleeping in my own bed. The holidays are meant for relaxation and hanging out with friends and family. This upcoming week my sister and I will be decorating our house for Christmas. Then after Thanksgiving, we are picking out our Christmas tree. In light of what is going on in the world, the holidays are something to look forward to. So why not decorate early, why not listen to Christmas music for two full months, why not bake as many cookies as possible? The holidays give us an opportunity to try new cooking recipes and spend time with the people we love.

Something I am doing while I’m home for break is doing an internship at my college. This is my first internship and I am super excited to be doing something over break. Over the summer break I was unable to work due to the pandemic, so doing an internship that is related to my major is something I am looking forward to. Along with working, the break is a nice time to pick up some new hobbies. My personal favorite has been playing the Wii, I love Mario Kart and now Wii Fit Plus. I may even start playing my violin again. The possibilities are endless when you have about a three month break!

I just wanted to say congratulations to you guys for making it through another unprecedented semester! I hope you all spend your holidays doing things you love. Looking at Christmas lights, baking, hanging out with family, and maybe even picking up some new hobbies. Don’t forget to take care of yourself during this time off. You deserve it!
