Nowadays, you cannot walk into the mall without feeling like you have been thrust into a time machine back to the mid-1990’s. Converse sneakers, crop tops, and choker necklaces have us feeling like we are grabbing a cup of coffee at “The Central Perk”. The following are some current fashion trends as worn by the cast of Friends:

1. Choker necklaces

Whether they are made of lace, suede, or plastic, choker necklaces are all the rage. They are a simply, fun accessory that can be dressed-up or dressed-down depending on your mood.  Get the look at Forever 21.

2. Button-down skirts

These fun, flirty skirts can be paired with a chunky cable knit sweater, or kept simple with a black crop top like Monica’s. You can pick one up in corduroy or denim, depending on the season. Get the look at Urban Outfitters.

3. Slouchy jeans & crop tops

This is quite possibly one of my favorite looks. By matching your loose-fitting jeans with a cute, girly crop top, you stay looking totally trendy. This is a great look for the spring as it can be paired with some cute Vans or New Balance sneakers and sweater. Get Rachel’s look at Garage.

4. Slip dresses over t-shirts

The easiest way to make a slip dress more wearer friendly? Put a t-shirt on underneath it! Luckily, you can buy a dress-shirt combo at nearly any trendy shop. Get the look at Nordstrom Rack.

5. Dark lips

Regardless of skin tone, there is a dark lip color out there for you! If you are fair skinned, stick to a deep rose shade. If you have a darker complexion, rock the red wine shades. Pucker up! Get the look at Sephora.

6. Velvet dresses

The most popular fabric of the last fashion season was hands-down velvet. From flirty, lace-trimmed camisole tops to functional dresses, this fabric is fun and transitional. Get the look at Free People.

7. Layered necklaces

First of all, lets just admire how boho-chic Pheobe’s necklace is. This trend requires the right shirt neckline to not come off looking too bulky. Websites suchas Etsy offer a wide variety of layered necklaces with every look from dainty to statement necklaces. Get the look at American Eagle.
