Disclaimer: This is completely opinionated and not digging at people who hate the outdoors or bashing them.
Personally, I don’t know a boy who isn’t obsessed with a video game at all. I know some boys will ditch plans or not come out because of video games and some that only play before bed or when they wake up. I like video games myself, but I like the more interactive games.
Anyway, let’s talk about boys…in my opinion, the outdoorsy/adventurous kind are the best kind out there. Please. Do NOT even try to fight me either on this because I have many reasons below for why they are the best.
1. They’re exciting/adventurous
Since they are filled with so much energy, they will always be thinking of the next thing to explore and do with you. They don’t like to be bored and would rather be doing stuff.
2. They’re lively
They are full of life and energy. Which in turn, transmits to you, creating synergy of life and positive energy.
3. They’re always ready to do things
Every time you suggest something, they are more than likely to agree and yell with excitement, “Ok, let’s do it!” rather than “Don’t you want to just stay in watch Netflix?” (Not that Netflix and chill isn’t nice. Just sometimes the repetitive Netflix and chill kind of “dates” get boring.)
4. They’re unpredictable
Honestly, with outdoor boys you literally don’t know what you are going to get. Does he want to go for a hike? A swim in the lake/pond/ocean? Does he want to go fishing? Is he going to pick you up in a nice outfit or covered in dirt from his latest adventure with the boys? That’s the beauty. I guess you never know, but of course, unpredictability can be frustrating, but let’s just think of the positive aspects of it.
5. They’re fun
Every moment with him will be filled with fun and laughter. You’re going to feel like a child during recess, on top of the world and completely present in the moment and enjoying it.
6. They have a desire to be one with nature or a love for it
There is nothing more attractive to me than someone who can appreciate nature. I love going on hikes in the Adirondacks. Making it up to the top and seeing that view or even looking at the beauty of lakes and mountains from the ground level…it is so jaw-dropping. It gives you such a sensation that nothing else on earth could ever compare to the feeling of nature and true love for it. Having a man with the same love as that, I find it to be ooo la la (lol).
7. There’s a greater chance of not being bored
Nothing is going to feel routine with them. You’re always going to be on some kind of adventure and you’re less likely to fall into the boredom cycle of wanting him to do more spontaneous things with you…maybe you’ll be wanting a few more nap/Netflix dates.
8. There’s a good chance of being fit and full of vitamin D
As an added bonus of always being outside and doing some kind of physical activity, you will probably become fitter overall and full of vitamin D from being out in the sun constantly.
9. New discoveries
Now, this can be literal or metaphorical. You can discover new things about yourself by being outside more or doing things in nature. Find new hobbies that you are obsessed with. Discover things about you and your partner’s relationship and spending true quality time together. Discover new places, new hobbies that neither of you has tried, discover their favorite hobbies.
10. Cute outdoor dates
He’ll plan adorable dates that involve the outdoors, a picnic under the stars, by a fire or even a fire on the beach at sunset. You might even climb a mountain and have lunch at the peak or have a day at the lake. Literally, anything they can think of to spend time with you outdoors.
11. They’re cheap (but in a good way)
They’re cheap, but in a good way. They save money where they can. They think it is absurd to go to a fancy restaurant for a $50 steak when they spend under $20 for a little BBQ date.
12. They’re big softies/teddy bears
Yeah…they’re big and tough, muscular and manly. But at the end of the day or after a few hours outside, they’ll be tired and start acting like tired puppies who just want to cuddle and nap with the person they love and care for the most. Probably the cutest quality of outdoorsy boys.
13. They will never stop surprising you
They will always keep you on your toes and you will never be able to outsmart them and figure out what they are up to. But you will always appreciate it.
14. Everything is an adventure
They have the ability to make anything an adventure. They’ll have a makeshift movie theater outside for you when you’re tired and don’t want to leave home. They’ll create a campground in the backyard. Maybe even bring out your inner child at a playground, playing games like the floor is lava or something fun to pump adrenaline.
15. It will be effortless
It won’t feel like work. You will just lose yourself in everything and it will be easy and fun.
I obviously love cuddling on a couch watching movies, but not every day. I need more excitement in my life. Take me camping, hiking, out for a drive, plan an adventure to a new town or somewhere close by, take me to the lake and I’ll be happy as a lark.
