Model Shows Fat-shamer whose Boss.

By: Brianna Mooney

As most girls in our generation keep up with social media, there is no doubt that girls do not keep up with all of the Victoria Secret Model accounts, and model pages. As if we don’t already want to cry watching the Victoria secret Fashion show, and stuff our faces with ice cream and pizza, and drown in our sorrows of “wow I wish I had her body.” We compare ourselves to what society thinks is so-called “perfection”. But in reality, there’s nothing perfect about televised, glamoured-up women.

Aerie Clothing stores have launched a powerful message regarding their model choices. Aerie had chosen models in their real, untouched glory with curves, with girls of all sizes and shapes. Beautiful just the way they are. Yet of course we have people who have nothing better to do with their lives then to pick apart beautiful people who cant help with what momma gave them.

Aeries newest model Iskra Lawrence had a creative, and rather yet, cheeky response recently to a commenter who called her a “fat cow” on her Instagram post. She first posted a picture of herself in lingerie eating a bag of potato chips with a sneer on her face. Lawrence followed that with a slow- motion Instagram video of her eating chips and making an obscene gesture to the camera.

Lawrence stated a response with:

This is for anyone who has ever been called FAT,” she wrote to her 1.4 million followers. “Ps I do not condone binge eating. I eat whatever I want in moderation. I will eat crisps but I’ll also make healthy home cooked meals and workout regularly. The message is who gives a F what anyone else thinks of you. YOU are the only one who decides your self worth.”

It seems as though Lawrence can handle her own, and not let the haters affect her. This is such a powerful message for girls struggling with body issues, you are beautiful just the way you are. Do not let somebody else’s irrelevant opinion bring you down. Take it from Iskra Lawrence, she works it curvy and all. You go girl!

I'm Nicole! Nikki, Nic, anything you want to call me really. I'm from south-eastern Pennsylvania and I love life and beauty. Whenever I'm not writing or taking pictures for my blogs or social media accounts, you can find me (hopefully) at the beach surfing, traveling, making new friends and seeing new places. I'm in love with people I've never met and places I've never been to. I am currently a Senior (!!!) at Shippensburg University, majoring in Communications Journalism (focusing in Public Relations) and minoring in Psychology. I would love to work for a PR firm with advertising, event planning and perhaps a chance to travel. Thanks for reading!! - Nicole
